- Retaliation by Yasmin Shiraz. This novel made Kayla stand up in the middle of the class and explain why everyone should read it. Students have been passing it around in the hallways. Highly recommended.
- Lady Q by Raymundo Sanchez and Sonia Rodriguez. Recommended by Claudia, this nonfiction book tells the story of a former Latin Queen.
